But the story behind our carrot cake goes all the way back to shortly after we opened our Etobicoke bakery in 2004.
We knew we wanted to add a carrot cake to our lineup, so we began testing different recipes, searching for one that had just the right texture, flavour and richness.
Then one of our bakers offered to share a special recipe that her mother had been making for years and selling to restaurants.
As soon as we tried it, we knew it was a winner.
More than twenty years later, we’re still making our carrot cake using that same recipe.
What Makes Our Carrot Cake So Good?
Our carrot cake is moist yet satisfyingly dense, lightly spiced and filled with freshly grated carrots and high-quality walnuts. But what truly takes it to another level is our cream cheese frosting.
And we don’t cut corners on the ingredients.
We use freshly grated carrots, freshly squeezed lemon juice, high-quality walnuts and a premium cream cheese that is even more expensive than Philadelphia Cream Cheese. We believe those details matter, and you can taste the difference in every bite.
The result is two layers of moist, lightly spiced carrot cake studded with walnuts and generously paired with our sweet, tangy cream cheese frosting.

Does Your Carrot Cake Contain Walnuts?
Yes. Our full-size carrot cakes contain walnuts, which add texture and complement the warm spices and freshly grated carrots.
Our carrot cupcakes and carrot snack cakes, however, are made without walnuts.
Does Your Carrot Cake Contain Raisins or Pineapple?
No. Our carrot cake does not contain raisins or pineapple. We keep the recipe simple and classic, allowing the freshly grated carrots, warm spices, walnuts and cream cheese frosting to be the stars.
Is Your Cream Cheese Frosting Made with Real Cream Cheese?
Absolutely.
Our carrot cake is generously frosted with real cream cheese frosting, made using a premium cream cheese that costs even more than Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Combined with freshly squeezed lemon juice, it creates the perfect balance of sweet, creamy and tangy.
For many of our customers, the cream cheese frosting is their favourite part.
What Sizes of Carrot Cake Are Available?
Our carrot cake is available in three sizes:

- Perfect (7”) — Serves 8 to 10
- Celebration (9”) — Serves 16 to 20

Do You Make Carrot Cupcakes and Snack Cakes?
Yes! We use the same much-loved carrot cake recipe to make our carrot cupcakes and carrot snack cakes, with one important difference: they are made without walnuts.
It’s another way to enjoy one of our longest-standing recipes, whether you’re celebrating a birthday, looking for dessert to share or simply craving a really good carrot cake in Toronto.
Does Carrot Cake Need to Be Refrigerated?
Yes. Because our carrot cake is made with real cream cheese frosting, it should be kept refrigerated.
For the best flavour and texture, take your cake out of the refrigerator approximately one hour before serving. This allows the cake and frosting to soften and come to the ideal temperature for enjoying.
Can You Freeze Carrot Cake?
Yes! Our carrot cake freezes beautifully.
Store it in an airtight container and freeze for up to one month. When you’re ready to enjoy it, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator before bringing it to room temperature for serving.
